Michelle's Old West Theme Park

Based loosely on Silver Dollar City in Branson, MO, the theme park is a work in progress. Every theme park from SDC to Disney has a train for visitors to ride in or on. This one will be in N scale, with HO scale people riding in open gondolas to view the "park". The town will have an old west theme, with characters in costume alongside modern visitors. Planned buildings at the moment are the saloon, stable, restaurant, and some shops, along with the passenger station.

The module is built as an outside corner module with full base for the HO trains to run under the park. The actual track has an extra section that can attach to Christopher's Farm Module, or Kurt's Industrial Modules at either end. These extra tracks lengthen a staging track and/or provide a hidden staging track for the HO trains, along with the dual main line.

The passenger train ride crosses over a bridge where the real trains run below the park.
Picture of the mountain side height
The raised mountainside of the park.
Picture of casting process
The next step was to cast the mountainside base of the park. The pink foam had to be covered.
Picture of some cast rocks
The front edge of the mountainside in progress.
Picture of the double tunnel portals
The double tunnel portals area. Ok, so we were very negligent about taking pictures at this point. Time was short and the camera was forgotten as the next show neared.
Picture of the N scale tunnel
Kurt glued in the tunnel portals for the N scale track after the rocks were colored, but before they were sealed. The portals had to be sealed as well.
Picture of the portals in place
One N scale and two HO portals in place. The portal for the triple track was made from 2 double track portals. Kurt cut around the capstones. The funny was that the way he cut the portals, the leftover pieces were able to form the single portal for the abandoned track at the back.

Ready to place the N scale tunnel back into place.
Picture of the finished rocks
The finished rocks - well, they still needed sealant.
Picture of the finished module at a show
The next show was the next day. The sealant had barely dried in time. Trees and buildings give the scene some life.

The correct station for the passengers, painted to match the building from the theme park we are loosely basing this module on.

The passenger train runs along the top of the cliffside.
Picture of the double tunnel area
The double portal end. The back track will look very abandoned when we are through.

Hope you don't mind bridges over tall drops.

Main Street is now sporting some pedestrian traffic.

Picture of the two shops
Two of the shops forming Main Street. Figured out the base park yet?.
Picture of the hotel
The name of the hotel says it all - "Silver Dollar City".
Picture of the tables behind the restaurant
Tables will be in back of the restaurant. We still need to add the grass and LOTS more people.
